Unit 29- Conventions
Sugar Water- http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/42346/ At the beginning of the video we see two women wake up, one is moving forwards in time and the other is moving backwards in time. One woman has a shower in water and the other pores sugar over her head which could represent the title of the song. The lyrics start with “The velocity of time” which is shown in the video by time being shown going forwards and backwards on both sides of the video. The voice that we hear is like “sugar water”. The lyrics are in a different language. These are the not the words that are sung. This is only a translation. These are the lyrics: The velocity of time turns her voice into sugar water I'm on a concrete way The wind is blowing to the north-northwest It smells like sands of the southern island When a black cat crosses my path A woman in the moon is singing to the earth A woman in the moon is singing to the earth La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la I'm riding on a camel that has big eyes The buildings are changing into coconut trees Little by little When a black cat crosses my path A woman in the moon is singing to the earth A woman in the moon is singing to the earth La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la La la la, la la la la la la We are taking sugar water shower Shower Luke Burge 31st May 2012

Unit 29- Task 2 Techniques
Techniques: (Music Video- Paradise by Coldplay) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1G4isv_Fylg&feature=g-music One technique they used is multiple images. They may have used this in the scene where the Giraffe is in the background. The camera angles change when he is moving on from one place to another to give effect of his journey in time. Camera movements are used for the bike shop scene. We see the elephant walking to the shop and then we see the elephant looking through the window from the inside. The next shot we see the elephant looking in the shop window from the outside looking at the bikes. The shot is used to make the audience think what he could be looking at. When the plane is in the air green screen may have been used for this shot to make it look real. It works by putting your footage into an editing programme and inserting different video footage over the green screen. Location shoots- The elephant is first seen in a zoo in London, he then escapes to Heathrow airport and gets a plane to South Africa and has to meet his fellow elephant band in Cape Town. Unit 29- Task 2 Styles
Blog post 2: To generate income. Sabotage by the Beastie Boys- hXp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5rRZdiu1UE In the video we start off by seeing a flashing police siren at night whilst driving on the road responding to an emergency. Throughout the video we see the band dressed as police detectives chasing criminals. There are lots of action scenes in the video which would appeal to fans of the age of sixteen or above. The image is timed in well with the song; (Cutting to beat) however there are other movies which are likely similar to the music video. The most unique thing is that editing is that it reflects the rhythm and beat. Another association could have been that seeing police officers/detectives would remind that person of the video of the band dressed as the police. The bands name “The Beastie Boys” gives off a mean name which is reflected in their role as police officers. People who enjoyed the music and the video would of wanted the album/single if they were a fan o f the band or had been to their gigs or buying posters of the band. All of this makes money and generates the bands income so they can carry creating new songs and albums for the future. Luke Burge 31st May 2012

Unit 29 Music Video Production- The purposes of music videos
Blog post 3 To sell an idea of an artist – their attitude, their interests Video- Zef Side by Die Antwoord hXp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q77YBmtd2Rw&feature=player_embedded In the video they were being interviewed to start off with, each member had their own individual attitude as one was very quiet, the other very chatty and the last member was mainly agreeing with the chatty member of the band. When the song plays their attitude doesn’t seem to change much at all. The one who was chatty in the interview shows he is quite confident as wants to be centre staged and filmed more than the other two members. However they are just sitting on a bench and letting him do all the work which makes the video seem a little boring. I think that they could be self-produced and want to be famous but their chances seem quite slim. Luke Burge 26th April 2012

Unit 29 Music Video Production- The purposes of music videos
Blog post 2 To promote the artist as a live performer to encourage viewers to attend concerts / events. http://www.promonews.tv/category/live-music-video/ This music video was filmed live and uploaded on YouTube. The way its filmed makes you want to watch it live because you can see more and you are closer to the artist. Being there live entitles you to hear more and the quality of the speakers there will allow you to hear better vocals better. The music goes well with the lyrics and her voice which makes the song emotional. The song possibly has a big effect on many people. Some people would be drawn in to listening to the song depending on what mood you are in. In stages the song first appeared on the television programme Skins. From the people who watched the programme and enjoyed the song have gone on to listen to it via YouTube and download it. This would then make people want to go to see her live.
